Upgrades give you an increase in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item however, they are always less expensive than purchasing new gear. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item upgrading from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items which can be used to upgrade weapons and tools, armor and accessories. Players can purchase them from item upgraders NPCs for a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be applied to any weapon or tool with a button, which will show an item level upgrade's preview at the next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot for the item and the current item level. For instance weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currency types.

The discount on the account will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
