We contacted Ladina Schopf - interior designer, architect and founder of LS Projects - for her tips on how to select the right home. They looked at storage capacity, layout and energy efficiency, among other features.

GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The name of the series suggests that GE’s Profile series is targeted at those who wish to incorporate cutting-edge technology into their kitchens. The refrigerator is brimming with features, from an in-the-door Keurig K-cup coffee maker to a smart water dispenser. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. This fridge is expensive, so I expected better.

Aside from that blip the fridge is a great option. It has a large freezer compartment, which is uncommon in counter-depth French door fridges, and it holds a fair amount of frozen food as compared to similar models.

The fridge is equipped with 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment is 18.5 cubic feet, which is the standard for a french style fridge freezer non plumbed-door fridge at this price. It comes with a decent size icemaker in the left door. However it's not the biggest one I've seen.

You can adjust the shelves in both compartments to make the perfect storage solution. The GE PYE22PYNFS's design for the interior is good-looking, too. Its LED lighting is a nice addition, and the in-door storage bins feature an additional shelf that folds up beneath itself to make it possible to store items that are tall. The drawers come with temperature controls, so you can set them for Beverage, Meat or Deli settings. The drawers are french door fridges better simple to open and close, but I found the textured plastic coatings to be a bit rough on my fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator has all the features you would expect from a refrigerator within this price range. It has Wi-Fi, app support and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app is available on iOS and Android devices and allows you to control your refrigerator from any place around the world. It also has many options for customization. It also sends you notifications when a door is left open, when the refrigerator or freezer is in need of defrosting, and when it's time to change the filter.

It would be great to have GE PYE22PYNFS could offer Precise Fill the option that is available in a handful of GE refrigerators that allow users to choose the number of cups they would like to pour out. It does have a countdown on the fridge's display to display how much water have remaining, but that's not as helpful as Precise Fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

It is designed to look as a seamless element of your kitchen, Bosch's French-door refrigerator is a standout. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also features a veggie compartment which keeps vegetables and fruits fresher for longer, and two compressors to preserve food items. The ice maker is one of the top we've tested and produces pyramid-shaped ice that is low in water consumption. This fridge is perfect for a small household or kitchenette that needs a built-in appearance and top-of-the line food preservation.

This fridge was the top-rated refrigerator in our Refrigerators test for various reasons. The temperature of the freezer remained constant at just above 0°F and never changed more than a tiny fraction - this is essential to avoid freezing burn. The fridge's fridge section also performed well, reaching the desired initial set temperature within a matter of hours and keeping that temperature steady throughout the course of our tests.

Bosch is a household name for its top-quality appliances. It's therefore no surprise that Bosch's counter depth fridge Bosch counter depth fridge can be connected to your home Wi Fi and Bosch's platform Home Connect. The app lets you monitor and control your fridge from your tablet or smartphone. The fridge is expensive, however it has top-quality features and functions for the cost.

The LG LRFLC2706S is a top counter-depth refrigerator that packs plenty of storage space into the frame's compact size. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the refrigerator has an ordinary french door fridge small-door design with gallon-sized door bins on each door and two rows of spill-capture shelves and a set crisper drawers. The top shelf on the right can be folded in order to create more space for taller items. There's also a full-width drawer for deli items and an internal water dispenser.

This refrigerator has a freezer with an ice maker making it easy to move the frozen ice whenever you need it. The freezer is designed with thoughtful elements, too, like sliding drawers that can help you better organize the position of your items. It has a large bin for storing frozen food and a separate container for ice.

Another great feature of this refrigerator is its Smart InstaView panel. It lets you manage the refrigerator's temperature as well as lighting from your smartphone. It's a good method of monitoring and managing your refrigerator, particularly if you're away from home.

The Smart InstaView feature is neat but it doesn't improve the performance of the fridge. In fact it took a bit longer to defrost and chill food in this fridge than some of the others we test. This is likely due to its larger capacity.

The doors are a different issue with this refrigerator. The handles with a sunken design allow smaller people to open them from the bottom. However taller people will have a difficult time closing them without slamming. It would have been much better if they had front-mounted handles.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a good choice for those who want to combine the advantages of a Integrated French Door fridge Freezer uk-door fridge's aesthetics with a more efficient layout. Its capacity is superior to counter-depth models and also cools evenly. It's also a little cheaper than the best counter-depth refrigerators that have an ice maker, which helps make it a popular choice.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

This Frigidaire french style fridge door refrigerator is a good choice when you're looking for a French door refrigerator that doesn't cost a lot of budget. It's a minimalist design that isn't as striking visually as some of the competition however it comes with enough features to make it a solid choice. Its most important characteristic is the adjustable temperature drawer, which helps keep foods like meat and vegetables fresher for longer. It also comes with a large ice maker and a water dispenser.

The "Chill Drawer", which sits over the two crisper bins, is another excellent feature. This drawer lets you redirect some of the refrigerator's cooling power directly to this area, meaning you can store foods that need extra attention. This feature can be adjusted using a slider on the outside of the drawer. It is also possible to use this to set a general cooling setting for the entire fridge though I've found that adjusting the general settings tends to produce better results than specific ones.

During my tests, I found that the temperatures of the refrigerator were fairly consistent across different areas of the refrigerator. The temperatures in the top and bottom of the fridge didn't vary very far from 38 degrees, and the middle of the fridge was within a degree of 36. This is a solid performance, but it isn't quite at the top of our ratings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. This fridge can be connected with a smart thermostat in order to gain more precise information on the internal temperature of your fridge.

The Frigidaire FGHB2866PF's outside is made of grey-bodied stainless steel that has a "smudge-proof" finish. It wards off streaks and fingerprints better than other stainless steel finishes I've tried.
