Don't Forget Robot Hoover: 10 Reasons Why You No Longer Need It

본문

The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and will leave your floors clean. Its price is surprisingly low and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are pluses.

Make sure to check your robot's brushes frequently for tangled debris and hair. Wash them if needed. Some models will also empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in a larger bin at the base. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other top iRobot models (including the top pick) they utilize smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans that avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. For instance, the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

Still, it's very good robot vacuum for those who want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and can work while you're at work, or at school. The only thing it doesn't have that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. And, if you need to change the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, however it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This top-performing mop and vacuum combination uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it learns the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to take off and extend its mop. This helps prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm is great for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire house, finishing with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did a great job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with various flooring types, such as some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy models of the competitors. It's among our most attractive looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors, including a structured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in mornings prior to work or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. It's a dual-purpose automatic vacuum cleaner and mop that is very efficient however it's more expensive and produce more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take the care of vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium rivals. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with a feature called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the autonomous vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on how dirty those areas are.

If you own a larger home, it is worth selecting a robot that comes with the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. For families that are busy recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be very beneficial.

The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It is a good vacuum cleaner and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or set up the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. And you can create a spot-clean that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to getting caught on low thresholds and is louder than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
